Terms, membership & refunds
Last updated 16 September 2026. The Salvage Register is owned and operated by Nikita VanVessem, Nova Scotia, Canada — that's who you're contracting with. By using the service you agree to what follows.
Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or continuing to use The Salvage Register you agree to these terms. You must be of legal age in your province to enter a contract, and if you are using the service on behalf of an organisation you confirm you have authority to bind it. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details confidential and for everything done under your account. Please keep the information on your account accurate and up to date.
Our order process
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are also covered by Paddle's Buyer Terms.
Acceptable use
A membership gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the register for your own thrifting. You must not: break any law or use the service for fraud, spam or harassment; infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy; scrape, crawl, bulk-download, copy or resell the register or any part of it; share your account or resell access; upload malware or attempt to probe, overload, reverse engineer or otherwise interfere with the security or integrity of the service; or work around any technical or plan limit. Shop listings, addresses and contact details are for personal use, not for building marketing lists.
Our intellectual property
The Salvage Register — the software, the compiled directory, the writing, the name and the branding — belongs to Nikita VanVessem and is protected by copyright and other rights. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you beyond the limited right to use the service described above.
Membership and pricing
Access to the register, map, reviews, photo galleries and community board requires a paid membership: $6.99 CAD per month or $69.99 CAD per year, plus any sales tax that applies where you live. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal.
Billing
Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Memberships renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can switch between monthly and yearly at any time from the header — the change applies immediately and the difference is pro-rated.
Free trial
The monthly membership starts with a 3-day free trial. A payment method is required to begin the trial, and you have full access for those three days. If you cancel before the trial ends you are not charged; otherwise the first monthly payment of $6.99 CAD plus tax is taken automatically when the trial ends, and monthly billing continues from there. One trial per person. The yearly plan does not include a trial.
Cancellation
Cancel any time from the Membership link. Your access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for, and it is not renewed after that. We don't delete your reviews or photos when a membership lapses.
Refunds
If the service isn't what you expected, request a refund within 14 days of a first payment or a yearly renewal and we'll refund it in full — visit paddle.net or email us and we'll take care of it. After that, partial periods aren't normally refunded, though we'll always look at genuine problems — a prolonged outage, a double charge, a subscription you didn't intend to renew. Refunds go back to the original payment method through Paddle.
Accuracy of listings
Shop information is compiled from public sources and checked as carefully as one person can manage, but small shops change hours, move, and close without notice. Listings are offered for information only, with no guarantee that a shop is open or that details are current. Call ahead before a long drive. We are not affiliated with, and do not represent, any shop on the register.
Content you post
You keep ownership of the reviews, photos and sale listings you post, and you grant us permission to display them within the app. Only upload photos you took or have the right to share. Reviews must be your honest first-hand experience. We may remove anything unlawful, abusive, defamatory, misleading or off-topic, and may suspend accounts that repeatedly post such material.
Community board
Yard and estate sale listings are posted by members. Arrangements, payments and visits are strictly between you and the person holding the sale. Take the usual precautions when visiting a private address.
Availability
We work to keep the register up and accurate, but the service is offered without a promise of uninterrupted or error-free performance. Maintenance, hosting problems or changes to the features on offer can interrupt access from time to time.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account for material breach of these terms, non-payment, a security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious misuse — including the activity listed under acceptable use. Where it is reasonable to do so we'll warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. You can close your account at any time. If we close your account without cause, we'll refund the unused part of the period you paid for.
Liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent Canadian law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from the use of the register, from dealings with any shop or seller, or from service interruptions. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the laws of Canada that apply there. See also our privacy policy.
